(a) Concrete sidewalks, curbs or aprons shall be one course construction of air entrained concrete containing six bags of Portland cement per cubic yard poured directly on a compacted subgrade. Sidewalks shall be four inches thick, aprons seven inches thick and monolithic vertical curbs shall be nine inches wide by sixteen inches deep. All shall be wood float finished, marked off with one-half inch deep grooves not over five feet on center each way and cured with sprayed on curing compound.
At buildings, at adjacent existing sidewalks or curbs, and otherwise not over thirty feet on center there shall be three-fourths inch wide asphalt-impregnated fiberboard joints. In new work, such joint material shall be held down and sealed. No sealer is required in repair or reconstruction work.
(b) Blacktop or asphaltic concrete driveway aprons shall consist of two inches of blacktop asphaltic concrete over two layers of gravel or crushed stone, each five inches thick after compaction, laid on a compacted subgrade.
(c) No underground rooms, vaults, boxes or footings shall be built within the public right of way other than those required for approved public utilities and sewers.
(d) In new work, the cross slope of sidewalk shall be five-sixteenth inch per foot and the cross slope of earth in the planting strips shall be three-fourths inch per foot. In repair or reconstruction work, the cross slope shall follow approximately the original sections provided that this does not result in inadequate run-off or puddles.
(e) In business districts, aprons shall start one and five-eighths inches above the paving and shall make up the remaining difference in rise in the first three feet.
In residence districts, the apron may start flush with the paving or flush with the rolling curb and slope uniformly up to the outer edge of the walk.
Sidewalks abutting existing rolling curbs may be set higher than the curb at the discretion of the Municipal Manager.
Where no curb exists in business districts, a nine-inch by sixteen-inch vertical concrete curb shall be poured monolithically with the sidewalk with the top set approximately six inches above paving.
(f) In business districts where the property line is at least ten feet from the edge of paving, the abutting owner shall plant one and one-half inch diameter trees of a species approved by the Municipal Manager.
In subdivision construction, the subdivider shall provide trees as specified in the Subdivision Regulations of the Municipality. Otherwise, land owners are not required to plant trees in the right of way of residence districts, but may do so under the regulations established by the Municipal Manager.
