(a) A permit is required for the demolition of a building or structure.

(b) Permits shall be issued by the City Manager upon payment of a fee of one hundred dollars ($100.00) for demolition of a residential structure and one hundred twenty-five dollars ($125.00) for demolition of a commercial structure. The City Manager shall establish specifications and regulations for the demolition of buildings or structures for each permit issued. (Ord. 21-2022. Passed 1-23-23.)
(c) For each permit issued, there shall be posted with the City Manager a Certificate of Public Liability Insurance for Premises and Operations including contractor’s coverage and automobile liability coverage for trucks involved for the contractor or subcontractor doing the demolition work in the amount of two hundred fifty thousand dollars/five hundred thousand dollars ($250,000/$500,000) for personal injury and five hundred thousand dollars ($500,000) for property damage. The City Manager may waive the issuance and receipt of a Certificate of Public Liability Insurance as provided herein, if he determines that the size, location and hazard of structure demolition do not require liability insurance. (d) A ten thousand dollar ($10,000) contractor’s bond is required.
(e) The permit shall cover a period of thirty (30) days. In the event the demolition of the building or structure is not completed within thirty (30) days, the permit shall expire for the building or structure involved.
