For the purpose of this chapter, the following definitions shall apply unless the context clearly indicates or requires a different meaning.
AMBULANCE. Any privately or publicly owned motor vehicle that is specially designed or constructed, and equipped, and is intended to be used for and is maintained or operated for the transformation of patients, including funeral coaches or hearses which otherwise comply with the provisions to this chapter, except any motor vehicle owned by or operated under the direct control of the United States.
ATTENDANT. A trained or qualified individual responsible for the operation of an ambulance and the care of the patients whether or not the attendant also serves as driver.
ATTENDANT-DRIVER. A person who is qualified as an attendant and a driver.
DRIVER. An individual who drives an ambulance.
HEALTH OFFICER. The County Health Officer or other designated official.
LICENSE OFFICER. The County Sanitarian.
PATIENT. An individual who is sick, injured, wounded or otherwise incapacitated or helpless.
PERSON. Any individual, firm, partnership, association, corporation, company, group of individuals acting together for a common purpose or organization of any kind, including any governmental agency other than the United States.
