8-3-8: NEW TREES:
   A.   The following small trees may in the future be planted on public rights of way if there is appropriate space therefor, and if the consent of the City, through either the Council or the Public Works Superintendent, is had in writing in advance. Such tree species are as follows:
      Hawthorne (Crataequs sp.)
      Bradford pear (Pyrus calleryana)
      Flowery crabapples (Malus sp.)
      Royal red maple (Acer platanoides "Royal Red")
      Amur maple (A.ginnala)
      European mountain ash (Sorbus aucoparia)
      Flowery dogwood
      Arborvitae
      Upright junipers
      Thundercloud purpleleaf plum
   B.   No shrubs or bushes may be planted upon the public right of way unless specific advance permission of the City Council is had, and the principal criteria for granting permission shall be site restrictions, the location of sidewalks, curbs, and the location of any existing or future expected utilities.
   C.   Anyone planting shrubs or trees not complying with the terms of this Chapter shall be responsible for the removal of those nonpermitted plantings at the owner's expense, and the planting of unauthorized shrubs, bushes or trees shall constitute a misdemeanor. (Ord. 630, 7-15-1991)
