6-6-9: ABATEMENT:
If said junk vehicle or other junked or abandoned personal property is not removed within the time so fixed, the Police Department may cause said junk vehicle or personal property to be removed at the expense of the owner and placed in an impounding yard where they shall be offered for sale to the highest and best bidder at public auction to be held not later than ten (10) days after one publication and notice of such sale to be published in a local newspaper. The proceeds from such sale shall be used to pay towing or removal expenses and rental in impounding yard where said junk vehicles are held. In the event the sale of the impounded junk vehicle or other personal property fails to produce enough revenue to pay the towing and impounding charges the balance will be due and payable immediately by the owner of the personal property, or the owner of the property where the personal property was located.
The Police Department may, however, dispose of any junked vehicle or other junked or abandoned personal property after notice and removal of the same as hereinbefore provided, without necessity of notice of sale and public auction when said personal property does not have market or salvage value of more than ten dollars ($10.00).
