All pools must have an adequate enclosure either surrounding the property or pool area sufficient to make such body of water inaccessible to small children.
(A) A fence shall be erected and maintained around every swimming pool, except juvenile pools, which are exempted. A dwelling house or accessory building may be used as part of this enclosure.
(B) Any swimming pool, except that having a walkway or deck area greater than 30 inches in height from the ground with integral guards or rails and a means of egress which can be removed when the pool is not in use, shall be completely enclosed by a protective wall, fence, or other effective barrier. The entire wall, fence, or barrier, including door and gates, shall be a minimum of four and a maximum of six feet in height measured both on the inside and outside, and shall not provide ready footing for climbing. The height of any opening under the bottom of the wall, fence, or barrier shall not exceed three inches. The openings in any wall, fence, or barrier shall not exceed three inches in width.
(C) Each entrance to the wall, fence, or barrier for a swimming pool shall be equipped with a door or gate that is self-closing and self-latching with a closure or latch installed not lower than 42 inches from the bottom of the door or gate.
(D) Drive-in or walk-in type gates must have a provision in its latch for a padlock or the gate shall be provided with other approved locking facilities. All gates or doors opening through this enclosure shall be capable of being securely fastened at all times when not in actual use.
