(a) As provided in the Charter, there is hereby created the office of Assistant to the Mayor, who shall serve in the Department of Administration.
(b) Pursuant to Sections 2.5
and 6.3.3
of the Charter, the Assistant to the Mayor shall be appointed by the Mayor, subject to concurrence by Council, and shall serve at the pleasure of the Mayor. The Assistant to the Mayor may be removed from office by written notice of the Mayor without right of appeal to any other body or person.
(c) The Assistant to the Mayor shall provide professional, operational, administrative, and program support to the Mayor and, when designated as a Deputy Director of Administration by the Mayor and Director of Administration, shall have the authority to administer the affairs of the Department of Administration.
(d) In the performance of the foregoing duties, the Assistant to the Mayor shall coordinate the operations of City departments through the respective department heads.
(e) The Mayor may prescribe and delegate additional duties to the Assistant to the Mayor as he or she may deem necessary, including but not limited to serving as Community Affairs Officer, and excluding those duties and responsibilities required by law to be performed by the Mayor, the Director of Public Safety, the Director of Public Service, or others.
