It shall be unlawful for any person, firm or corporation operating or in charge of any place of amusement, entertainment or refreshment to permit any minor under the age of 17 years to enter or remain in that place during the hours prohibited by this chapter, provided, however, that the provisions of this chapter shall not apply when the minor is accompanied by his or her parents, guardian or other adult person having direct care and custody of the minor.
