There is hereby established a uniform system of numbering all houses, stores, establishments, and other buildings, excepting minor sheds and outbuildings, now situated or which may hereafter be erected within the city limits, which for convenience are hereafter designated as structures. Pursuant to the system the numbers shall be placed near the main entrance of each structure, and in accordance with the map and plan now on file in the office of the City Recorder, which shall be known as the Official Address Map of the City of Glendale. All public streets shall be given a name in accordance with the provisions of this subchapter and as approved by the City Council.
