7-10-6: EQUIPMENT:
   A.   Lights And Reflectors: Every bicycle operated on any street, sidewalk, alley or roadway or any other public area within the limits of the village during the period from sunset to sunrise or at any other time when visibility is so limited as to require the use of lights for safety shall be equipped on the front with a lamp which shall emit a white light visible from a distance of at least five hundred feet (500') to the front and shall be equipped on the rear with a red reflector of a type approved by the Illinois department of transportation which shall be visible from all distances from one hundred feet (100') to six hundred feet (600') to the rear when directly in front of lawful lower beams of headlamps on a motor vehicle. A lamp emitting a red light visible from a distance of five hundred feet (500') to the rear may be used in addition to the red reflector. (1978 Code § 11-8-5; amd. 2011 Code)
   B.   Sirens: A bicycle shall not be equipped with nor shall any person use upon a bicycle any siren; except, that this subsection shall not apply to a bicycle that is a police vehicle or fire department vehicle. (1978 Code §§ 11-6-4, 11-8-5; amd. 2011 Code)
   C.   Brake: Every bicycle shall be equipped with a brake which will adequately control movement of, and stop and hold, the bicycle. (1978 Code § 11-8-5; amd. 2011 Code)
