The planning and zoning commission shall have the following duties:
A. To recommend changes in the official comprehensive plan of the village or any part thereof.
B. To make recommendations for the health, safety, comfort and convenience of the residents of the village and contiguous territory.
C. To prepare and recommend to the village president and board of trustees, from time to time, plans for specific improvements in pursuance of the official comprehensive plan.
D. To give aid to the municipal officials charged with the direction of projects and progress for improvements embraced within the official comprehensive plan, to further the making of these projects, and generally to promote the realization of the official plan.
E. To conduct hearings and make findings and recommendations in matters brought before the commission when public hearings are required by statute or ordinance, or when such hearings are deemed desirable by the planning and zoning commission. The commission shall study and make recommendations to the village president and board of trustees upon all plans for amendments to Title 11 and Title 12, conditional uses, including Planned Unit Developments, variations, map amendments and rezoning classifications, subdivision, resubdivision and annexation which are referred to them by the corporate authorities, prior to any action taken by the village president and board of trustees.
F. To prepare, revise and keep correct and current the official map and other documents which form a part of the official comprehensive plan.
G. To exercise such other powers germane to the powers granted by this chapter and by such other ordinances as may be conferred by the village president and board of trustees. (1978 Code § 2-1-5; amd. Ord. 2023-57-9-7-2023)
