If a commission member is absent from two (2) consecutive meetings without prior notification, or if a member misses one-fourth (1/4) of the regular or committee meetings during a year, that member may be dismissed from the planning and zoning commission by the village president, with the approval of the board of trustees, upon recommendation of the planning and zoning commission. A commissioner may petition the chair for a leave of absence due to lengthy illness or hospitalization, and this type of leave, if approved, would be exempt from this section.
