129.05  AUXILIARY POLICE.
   (a)   There is created in the Department of Public Safety an "auxiliary police unit" to be composed of not more than twenty persons, male and/or female who shall be electors of the City, and to be appointed by the Director of Public Safety.
   (b)   The auxiliary police shall be under the control and supervision of the Director of Public Safety who shall prescribe the uniform and dress to be worn by such members while on duty.
   (c)   The duties of the auxiliary police force shall be to aid and assist the Police Department in law enforcement and ministerial functions.
   (d)   No auxiliary policeman shall be permitted to carry any weapon in the performance of his duties, except for a mace or night stick as used by the Police Department, unless in case of riot or emergency, and must always be accompanied by a regular member of the Police Department unless services of a ministerial nature are required.
   (e)   Each auxiliary policeman shall be paid as provided by ordinance of Council.
