(a) Advertising Device. Any outdoor sign, display, figure, painting, drawing, message, placard, poster, billboard, or any other device designed, intended, or used to advertise or give information in the nature of advertising, and having the capacity of being visible from the traveled potion of any interstate, primary highway, or street located in a Commercial, Business, or Industrial zoned district.
(b) Awning or Canopy Sign. A sign painted on, printed on, or attached against the surface of an awning or canopy.
(c) Banner Sign. A sign made of fabric or any nonrigid material with no enclosing framework.
(d) Billboard. Means a structure for the display of advertisements in public places or alongside highways.
(e) Directional Sign. An on-premises sign giving directions, which may contain only the name or logo of an establishment.
(f) Festoons. A string of small ribbons, tinsel, small flags, or pinwheels.
(g) Flag. A piece of fabric with a distinctive design or advertisement used to attract attention to a business or permitted use.
(h) Free-standing sign. Means a sign intended to be erected and used permanently, whose support structure is embedded in the ground. Included in the term “free-standing sign” are:
(1) “Ground sign” means any free-standing sign mounted directly on a pedestal or planted base as distinguished from a sigh supported by poles or columns.
(2) “Pole sign” means a sign that is erected on or supported by not more than two columns, posts, pipes, piers, or other similar method of support and which is not supported by or connected to a building.
(i) Government Sign. Any temporary or permanent sign erected and maintained by the City, County, State, or Federal Government for traffic direction, or for designation of or direction to any school, hospital, historical site, public service, property or facility.
(j) Incidental Sign. A small sign, emblem, or decal such as a sign indicating hours of business.
(k) Marquee. Permanent canopy of rigid materials supported by and extending from the facade of a building.
(l) Nameplate. A non-electric on-premises identification sign giving only the name, address, and/or occupation.
(m) Off-premises sign. A sign advertising an establishment, merchandise, service or entertainment, which is not sold, produced, manufactured, or furnished at the property on which the said sign is located.
(n) On-premises sign. A sign advertising an establishment, merchandise, service, or entertainment, which is sold, produced, manufactured, or furnished at the property on which the said sign is located.
(o) Portable Sign. An on-premises sign designed to be moved easily. Included in the term “portable sign” are:
A. Framed and wire supported signs that are designed or constructed in such a manner that they can be moved or relocated without involving any structural or support changes.
B. “Trailer sign” means a sign mounted on or originally designed to be mounted on a trailer chassis with or without wheels and used as an on- premises sign.
(p) Projecting sign. Means any sign which is attached to the building and extends perpendicular from the face of the building or structure to which it is attached.
(q) Roof Sign. Any sign on or affixed to a roof of a building.
(r) Wall Sign. Any sign affixed to a wall of a building.
(s) Window Sign. Any sign painted on or affixed to the inside of a display window or which consists of letters, numbers or logos attached to the inside of the display window.
