§ 30.01 VILLAGE OFFICERS; STATE LAW ADOPTED.
   (A)   Adoption.  
      (1)   The following Wisconsin Statutes are hereby incorporated and made part of this section thereto: Wis. Stats. § 61.19 Annual elections: appointments; Wis. Stats. § 61.20 Election of Trustees; terms; number; Wis. Stats. § 61.23 Terms; temporary vacancy; Wis. Stats. § 61.24 President; Wis. Stats. § 61.25 Clerk; Wis. Stats. § 61.26 Treasurer; Wis. Stats. § 61.27 Assessor; Wis. Stats. § 61.31 Peace Officers; and Wis. Stats. § 61.32 Village Board; meetings; salaries, except as such statutes have been modified by Charter ordinance adopted pursuant to Wis. Stats. § 66.0101.
      (2)   References to specific statutory sections wherever used in this chapter shall mean the most current applicable state statutes.
   (B)   Offices.
      (1)   Offices dispensed with. The Offices of Engineer, Comptroller and Board of Public Works are dispensed with and the duties thereof shall be performed by the Village Board.
      (2)   Trustees. The village shall have six Trustees, whose term of office shall be two years (three of whom shall be elected each year).
   (C)   Board of Review. The President, Clerk and all Village Trustees shall constitute the Board of Review.
   (D)   Village Planning Committee. The Village Planning Committee shall consist of seven members appointed by the Village President with approval of the Village Board. The Village President may choose the presiding officer. The Village President may appoint himself or herself to the Committee and may appoint other village elected or appointed officials, except that the Committee shall always have at least three citizen members who are not village officials. Citizen members shall be persons of recognized experience and qualifications. Appointments shall be made during the month of April for terms that expire in April or at any other time if a vacancy occurs during the middle of the a term. Of members of the Committee first appointed, two shall be appointed for one year, two shall be appointed for two years, and three shall be appointed for three years. Thereafter, all members of the commission shall be appointed for three years. See Wis. Stat. §§ 61.35 and 62.33(1).
   (E)   Board of Zoning Appeals. The Board of Zoning Appeals shall consist of five members and one alternative member who shall be residents of the village appointed by the Village President and confirmed by a majority vote of the Village Board. Members first appointed shall serve one year, two for two years, two for three years and the alternate member shall serve three years. Thereafter, all members shall be appointed for three years. The Board shall have the powers and duties prescribed by § 30.15 and Wis. Stats. § 62.23(7)(e).
   (F)   Assessor. An Assessor, who may reside outside of the village, shall be appointed by the Village Board on an as need basis.
   (G)   Policeman.
      (1)   The Village Board, pursuant to Wis. Stats. §§ 61.195 and 66.0101, has by chapter ordinances discontinued the Office of Marshal or Constable, and pursuant to Wis. Stats. § 61.31, and other powers including general Village Board powers has created the Office of Policeman. Village police officers possess the powers, enjoy the privileges and are subject to the liabilities conferred and imposed by law upon village marshals or constables.
      (2)   The Village Board may appoint one or more deputies or reserves to the Village Police Chief from time to time as it sees fit, to assist the Police Chief in the performance of his or her duties. Such deputies shall be employees at will, serving at the pleasure of the Village Board without definite term or promise of continued employment.
   (H)   Bond of Village Treasurer. Pursuant to Wis. Stats. § 70.67, the village elects not to give the bond required by Wis. Stats. § 70.67, and in compliance with Wis. Stats. § 70.67(2) does obligate the village to pay, in case the Village Treasurer thereof shall fail to do so, all taxes of any kind required by law to be paid by such Treasurer to the County Treasurer. No bond will be required by the municipality of the Treasurer, other than the official bond required of all municipality treasurers, the Treasurer of this county, and a certified copy of this section shall be filed with the County Treasurer.
