5-2-6: IMPOUNDMENT AND REDEMPTION PROCEDURES:
   A.   Impoundment: Any domestic animal or fowl found running at large, contrary to the provisions of this chapter, shall be apprehended and impounded at the county animal control animal shelter for a period of up to three (3) days. On the fourth day, if the animal is unclaimed, the animal will be subject to county animal control regulations to reclaim the animal.
   B.   Redemption Fees: The owner of any impounded animal may redeem the animal by paying the village a release fee of ten dollars ($10.00) for each day the animal is held, plus any other additional applicable fees, costs, charges, and penalties incurred due to caring for the impounded animal or that otherwise arise under this chapter, including and in addition to any fees or charges imposed by the county animal control.    C.   Required Inoculation: No animal shall be released from impoundment until proof of the required rabies inoculation has been presented. Absent such proof, no such animal shall be released from the shelter until the animal is properly vaccinated, and until all costs and expenses thereof are paid to the village clerk and the county animal control, respectively.    D.   Redemption By Owner Or Other Person: No animal will be released to someone other than the owner, unless it remains unclaimed by said owner or such owner is unknown. (Ord. 708, 9-13-2012)
