5-2-3-4: DOGS SUSPECTED OF HAVING RABIES:
   A.   Report To County: Every veterinarian or other person discovering or suspecting any dog to be suffering from rabies shall immediately report this matter to the county animal control, giving the name and address of the owner of such dog, if known, and the place where the dog can be found. For the purposes of this subsection only, any dog which has bitten any person shall be presumed to be suffering from rabies. (Ord. 708, 9-13-2012; amd. 2012 Code)
   B.   Authority To Kill: Any police officer may kill a dog running at large which is suspected of suffering from rabies if the dog, in the opinion of the police officer, cannot be safely taken up and impounded, or if the police officer deems such killing essential to the safety of any person.
