A. Requirements: The owner of a dog shall provide the dog with a collar or harness made of leather, metal or other substantial material to which shall be securely fastened a tag issued by the state rabies inspector, deputy inspector or any licensed veterinarian showing that such dog has been vaccinated against rabies during the current or immediately preceding year. A dog found anywhere within the village not wearing the proper collar and tag shall be impounded. Any owner not providing such collar and tag shall be subject to the penalties specified in this chapter. (Ord. 708, 9-13-2012; amd. 2012 Code)
B. Unauthorized Removal Prohibited: It shall be unlawful for any person not authorized by the owner to remove or take away any dog collar or rabies vaccination tag from any dog; provided, however, that this subsection shall not apply to any governmental official or animal control officer in the exercise of his duties.
