All members of the planning commission shall serve for a period of three (3) years which term shall begin on July 1 and end on June 30 three (3) years later. Vacancies shall be filled by appointments for unexpired terms only. All members of the commission shall serve without compensation; except, that if the village board of trustees deems it advisable, they may receive such compensation as may be fixed from time to time by said village board of trustees and provided in the appropriation ordinance.
