The City of Geneva is a public agency and, as such, is responsible to the community and the citizens it serves. All employees are expected to maintain the highest possible ethical and moral standards and to perform their duties within the guidelines established by appropriate statutes and other rules and regulations as may be set forth by the City. Conduct that interferes with normal operations of the City, brings discredit to the City or is offensive to the public or to fellow employees will not be tolerated. Such conduct shall include, but shall not be limited to:
(a) The engagement in any transaction, business or other interest which is in conflict with the proper discharge of official duties;
(b) The disclosure of confidential information without proper authorization;
(c) The use of confidential information or influence of position to advance personal, financial or other private interests;
(d) The acceptance of any gift, in the form of a service, loan, item or promise, from any person, firm or organization which maintains an interest in any business with the City;
(e) The acceptance of any gift, in the form of a service, loan, item or promise, from any person, firm or organization that may tend to influence an employee in the proper discharge of official duties; and
(f) The engagement in any matter which represents a conflict of interest with the City.
