848.01   UNINVITED PEDDLING AND SOLICITING PROHIBITED; EXCEPTIONS.
   (a)   The practice of going in and upon private residences in the City by solicitors of magazine subscriptions or other items of merchandise, peddlers, hawkers, itinerant merchants or transient vendors of merchandise or services, not having been requested or invited to do so by the owner or occupant of such private residences, for the purpose of soliciting orders for magazine subscriptions or the sale of goods, wares, merchandise or services, and/or disposing of and/or peddling or hawking the same, is hereby declared to be a nuisance and is prohibited.
   (b)   This section shall not be construed to prohibit the owner of any product of his or her own raising, or the manufacturer of any article manufactured by him or her, from selling, by himself or herself, any such product or article.
   (c)   This section shall not be construed to prohibit persons from soliciting door to door for the distribution of religious literature.
