(A) (1) As soon as practicable at the close of each fiscal year, and no later than six months thereafter, the Village Council shall cause an audit of all accounts of the village to be made by a competent person authorized to act as an independent auditor under the laws of the state, to be designated by the Mayor and approved by the Village Council.
(2) The person performing the audit shall possess valid credentials as a certified public accountant.
(B) Copies of the audit report shall be filed with the Village Clerk and with the Director of the State Department of Revenue and in other places as may be required by law.
