SECTION 11.09 NOMINATING PETITIONS.
    Any qualified and legally registered elector may become a candidate for nomination to municipal office at the regular primary election by filing with the City Clerk by 4:00 p.m. local time on or before the twelfth Tuesday prior to the date of such election a petition signed by not less than 75 or more than 125 qualified voters of the city. Blank nomination petitions as required by law for nonpartisan elections shall be made available by the City Clerk.
   No person shall sign the petition of more than one person for each office to be filled. No person shall file as a candidate for more than one elective office under this Charter in any given election.

   Filing deadline superceded by M.C.L.A. § 168.551, amended 8-6-12. As a result, beginning January 1, 2014, the secretary of state and the various county, township, and city clerks, shall receive nominating petitions or filing fees up to 4:00 p.m., eastern standard time, of the fifteenth Tuesday before the August primary.
