The Council may provide for the punishment of violations of city ordinances. Such punishment may be a fine not to exceed $500 or imprisonment for not more than 90 days or both, at the discretion of the court. These maximum limitations shall automatically increase as permitted by law. The court may suspend sentences or establish probation.
