It shall be unlawful for any person while upon any public street or sidewalk in the city, or while in any doorway, stairway, window or opening of any kind abutting thereon, or adjacent to such street or sidewalk, to solicit trade or patronage for any business of any kind or character whatsoever, or to molest, or seek or attempt to molest persons on such streets or sidewalks by such solicitation.
