For the purpose of this chapter, the following definitions shall apply unless the context clearly indicates of requires a different meaning.
ANNEXED TERRITORY. Territory annexed to the city after census day.
CENSUS DAY. The official date of the United States decennial census.
CITY. All territory within the corporate limits of the City of Fort Madison and all annexed territories.
COMMISSIONER OF ELECTIONS. The County Auditor of Lee County.
COMPASS POINTS. Points of the compass are approximate unless otherwise stated.
CORPORATE LIMITS. The corporate limits of the City of Fort Madison on census day. The CORPORATE LIMITS do not embrace the territories annexed after census day.
NAMES, BOUNDARIES, LINES, FEATURES AND FIXTURES. All names, boundaries, lines, features and fixtures are to be construed as they existed on census day.
STREET. (or similar language) The centerline of the right-of-way, and a straight extension of that center.
