(A) The City Attorney may appoint an Assistant City Attorney subject to the approval of the Council. The Assistant City Attorney may act when the City Attorney is unable to do so.
(B) The Assistant will serve at the pleasure of the City Attorney and will be paid by the City Attorney for the following services:
(1) Attending City Council meetings;
(2) Providing oral and/or written legal advice to the city; and
(3) Drafting and/or approving all city ordinances, and will be paid by the City Attorney no more than the normal hourly rate of the City Attorney for all work in excess of the above. The Assistant City Attorney will take the same oath as the City Attorney and shall provide bond with sureties in an amount determined sufficient by the City Manager.
