Notwithstanding any other part of this chapter to the contrary, the City Veterinarian, Animal Control Officer or a police officer may euthanize any diseased or injured animal found running at large, and/or impounded, so as to prevent further suffering of the animal. However, if the animal has a license tag attached to its collar, every reasonable effort will be made to notify its owner prior to such euthanization.
