§ 7-5-10 ANIMALS QUARANTINED.
   (A)   Any animal which bites a person or is suspected of having rabies shall be quarantined for a period of 14 days. Quarantine of the animal shall consist of the animal being securely confined and kept from contact from any other animal. The quarantine may be carried out at the animal owner’s residence if the animal has a current rabies shot and a city license and proof of same can be shown.
   (B)   All other suspect animals will be held at a veterinary hospital that has a valid veterinarian on its staff. All costs involved in transporting and holding of the animal will be at the owner’s expense. These costs will be paid by the owner at the end of the quarantine period. If the owner fails to claim the animal after the quarantine period, the animal will be destroyed and all costs charged to the owner.
