(A) Any person owning, operating or controlling any taxicab within the city shall not operate, or cause to be operated such vehicle as a taxicab unless the vehicle is a four-door model, is equipped on top with a plainly visible and lighted “Taxi” sign, and has been inspected and issued a certificate to the effect that the vehicle passes said inspection. The inspection shall be renewed every six months.
(B) The inspection shall not be limited to, but shall include the following areas in particular:
(1) Foot brakes and hand or parking brakes;
(2) Front and rear bumpers;
(3) Spare tire inflation;
(4) Sufficient heating and air conditioning for the interior of the cab;
(5) Driver’s rear view mirror;
(6) Speedometer operation;
(7) Dual windshield wipers;
(8) Lights, as approved by the Motor Vehicle Department, and a passenger compartment light with accessible switch; and
(9) No broken or cracked glass.
