§ 94.35 HYDRANT SPECIFICATIONS.
   Fire hydrants installed after February 22, 1977, shall meet the following general specifications:
   (A)   Hydrants shall be provided with a minimum six-inch diameter barrel and be equipped with at least two 2½ inch (inside diameter) discharge outlets in addition to one 4½ inch (inside diameter) suction outlet, capable of delivering a flow of at least 250 gallons per minute from each of the two 2½ inch outlets and a flow of at least 1,000 gallons per minute from the 4½ inch suction outlet, with a pressure loss of not more than two pounds per square inch at the 2½ inch outlets, and a total pressure loss of not more than five pounds per square inch between the street main and the discharge outlets be of such design that if the barrel is broken off the hydrant will remain closed. Street connections shall be not less than six inches in diameter, and shall be provided with secondary shutoff valves wherever practical.
   (C)   Hose threads of 2½ inch discharge outlets shall be that thread termed "old Cincinnati standard", having six threads to the inch, with an outside diameter of 3-3/32 inches, and shall be fully compatible with all Fire Department 2½ inch hose couplings.
   (D)   Hose threads of 4½ inch suction outlets shall be "national standard", having four threads to the inch, with an outside diameter of 5¾ inches.
   (E)   Hydrants shall be provided with a 7/8-inch square operating stem nut, and shall open with a counterclockwise rotation thereof.
