The City, through the Fire Department, shall charge every ambulance service provider, nursing home and extended care facility that request lift assistance from the Fire Department in accordance with the schedule of rates approved by Council and made available for public review in the City Clerk's office. The Fire Chief or his or her designee shall compute the charges thus due for each lift assistance made. The Finance Director or his or her designee or the Council's designee shall bill such charges to the ambulance service provider, nursing home or extended care facility and shall take all action necessary to collect the same. The Finance Director or his or her designee shall provide, upon request, to the City Manager, a report detailing the individual status of accounts receivable. The City Council may, by resolution, adopt policies relating to the collection of lift assist fees and the procedure for forgiving debts. The City Treasurer shall deposit money earned from the imposition of these charges into the Fire Department Capital Fund and such funds shall be expended in accordance with Section 242.53 hereunder.
(a) Lift assistance requested by nursing home or extended care facility (where no transport is needed):
(1) 1 engine crew - $145.00 per hour billed to nursing home or extended care facility.
(2) Minimum half-hour charge.
(b) Lift assistance requested by ambulance service provider that provides the transport:
(1) 1 Engine Crew - $145.00 per hour billed to ambulance service provider.
(2) Minimum half-hour charge.
(c) Lift assistance request where the Fire Department provides the transport:
(1) No charge to the ambulance service provider, nursing home or extended care facility requesting lift assistance.
