(a) Authority of Police Department. Drivers of vehicles in a funeral procession or a parade shall follow the directions of the Police Department rather than the provisions of this Traffic Code, as provided in Section 440.01.
(b) Pennants for Funeral Processions; Operation of Headlights. The Chief of Police shall designate a pennant to be displayed upon vehicles in funeral processions, and the headlights of such vehicles shall be turned on while such vehicles are in such processions.
(c) Operation of Vehicles. Each driver in a funeral procession or parade shall drive as near to the right edge of the roadway as practicable and shall follow the vehicle ahead as closely as is practicable and safe.
(d) Interfering With Parades.
(1) No person shall hamper, obstruct, impede or interfere with any parade assembly.
(2) No person shall drive a non-parade vehicle between the vehicles or persons comprising a parade.
(e) Restricted Parking During Parades. The Chief of Police may prohibit or restrict the parking of vehicles along the route of a parade.
(f) Duty of Drivers to Yield. At all intersections, vehicles shall yield to other vehicles comprising a funeral or authorized parade or procession.
