For the purpose of this chapter, the following definitions shall apply unless the context clearly indicates or requires a different meaning.
PERSON. It shall mean and include both singular and plural, and shall also mean and include persons, individuals, firms, corporations, partnerships and associations.
TAXICAB. It shall be defined as any motor vehicle seating nine or fewer passengers, operated upon any street or highway on call or on demand, accepting or soliciting passengers indiscriminately for hire between points along streets and highways as may be directed by the passenger or passengers so being transported, and shall not include motor vehicles or motor vehicle carriers as defined in subsections 17 and 18 of Section 62-3 of the General Statutes of North Carolina.
