5-1-2: PARKING REGULATIONS:
   A.   No Parking Areas: No vehicle shall be parked at any time, nor shall be allowed to stand in any of the following places, except in compliance with traffic control devices or at the direction of a police officer:
      1.   In any intersection.
      2.   In any crosswalk.
      3.   Within fifteen feet (15') of a fire hydrant.
      4.   On any public sidewalk or parkway.
      5.   Any place where official signs prohibit parking.
      6.   Along any curb painted red. (Ord. 2007-9-11, 9-11-2007)
   B.   No Parking Zones:
      1.   U.S. Highway 91: No vehicle shall be parked at any time along the road, curb, or right of way of U.S. Highway 91 at the following locations:
         a.   Along the west side of the highway between its intersection with Main Street and a point one hundred twelve feet (112') south.
         b.   Along the east side of the highway between its intersection with Main Street and a point thirty feet (30') south.
         c.   Along the east side of the highway between its intersection with Main Street and a point one hundred sixty feet (160') north.
      2.   Main Street: No vehicle shall be parked at any time along the road, curb, or road right of way of the city street known as Main Street at the following locations:
         a.   Along the north side of said street between its intersection with U.S. Highway 91 and a point sixty feet (60') west.
         b.   Along the south side of said street between its intersection with U.S. Highway 91 and a point sixty feet (60') west.
         c.   Along the north side of said street between its intersection with U.S. Highway 91 and a point thirty feet (30') east.
         d.   Along the south side of said street between its intersection with U.S. Highway 91 and a point thirty feet (30') east. (Ord. 1991-1, 7-9-1991)
      3.   Overnight Parking Or Camping: No overnight parking or camping is permitted around city parks or on city streets or rights of way, except out of town family or friends may park in front of city residents' homes for a period not to exceed seven (7) days, unless authorized by the mayor or a city councilman. Violations are subject to towing at owner's expense and fine within twenty four (24) hours.
      4.   Long Term Parking: No long term resident parking of cars, trucks, tractors, trailers, boats, or recreational vehicles, on city rights of way exceeding forty eight (48) hours. Violators will be warned and vehicles towed at owners' expense and fined. Two (2) or more repeated offenses will be prosecuted as a misdemeanor in the courts.
      5.   Miscellaneous Materials On Rights Of Way: No placement of miscellaneous materials including, but not limited to, dirt, gravel, yard clippings, limbs, etc., on city rights of way, exceeding a period of seventy two (72) hours.
      6.   Short Term Parking: To ensure adequate parking, to permit sweeping or snow removal, and to provide for public safety, a short term parking time limit is provided to control parking of vehicles including trucks, trailers, tractors, or farm equipment around city buildings, city parks or in city provided parking areas. Parking will be limited to a maximum of four (4) hours in a twenty four (24) hour period. This restriction excludes city employees working at their assigned work locations; election workers and other scheduled events such as family reunions, parties, and any event scheduled with the city and approved by the city council or city employees. The parking provided at the city parks is for those citizens using the parks and not for storing or selling vehicles or for advertising or promoting private business or products. Violators will be warned in writing. Failure to comply with this subsection will result in a fine of twenty five dollars ($25.00) for the first offense; and fifty dollars ($50.00) for each subsequent offense. The vehicle will be towed or immobilized and all fines that are the responsibility of the registered owner must be paid in full before the vehicle is released. (Ord., 9-23-2004)
   C.   Parallel Parking: No vehicle shall be parked at any time along the road, curb, or road right of way, except passenger cars by parking parallel to said highway in a single row within eighteen inches (18") of the curb or barrow pit, on the following streets or parts of streets:
      1.   U.S. Highway 91: Along the east side of U.S. Highway 91 between a point thirty feet (30') south of the highway intersection with Main Street, and a point one hundred seventeen feet (117') south therefrom.
      2.   Main Street: Along the south side of Main Street between a point thirty feet (30') east of the street intersection with U.S. Highway 91, and a point one hundred feet (100') eastward therefrom. (Ord. 1991-1, 7-9-1991)
   D.   Penalty: Any person violating any provision of this section shall be guilty of a misdemeanor, and shall be subject to penalty as provided in section 1-4-1 of this code. (Ord. 1991-1, 7-9-1991; amd. 1999 Code)
