4-1-6: POUNDMASTER:
   A.   Appointment; Term; Compensation: The Mayor, with the consent of the Council, shall select a suitable person to act as poundmaster, and such person shall have the power of a police officer of the City, be under the supervision of a City designated officer, hold office during the pleasure of said Council, and receive such compensation for his services as the Council may by resolution fix.    B.   Duties: It shall be the duty of said poundmaster to take charge of the City pound and to keep the same in repair, to feed and properly care for any estrays impounded in the same, to report all estrays to the City Clerk within twenty four (24) hours of the impounding of the same, to advertise and sell all unclaimed estrays according to the provisions hereof, and to do all things under the direction of the Mayor necessary to carry out the intent of this Chapter. He shall not release to any person any animals impounded in the City pound, except upon order of the City Clerk. (1935 Code § 86; amd. Ord. 1, 8-1-1967; 1999 Code)
