§ 6  SCHOOLS.
The city has reached an ideal situation with respect to schools with the acquisition of the high school site of about 80 acres and the erection of the modern high school building.  The five other elementary schools and the junior high school provide adequate facilities for the existing city.  However, the city is growing and much land to the southeast, northeast, and northwest will be developed for residential use as time goes on.  The southwest sector, in which more industrial development is expected, may also have considerable residential growth.  It appears likely that fewer schools with much larger sites will be located in the future, rather than smaller installations about one mile apart.  This method requires more transportation facilities but has proven to be more economical from both the standpoints of construction costs and administration.  It, therefore, appears that there will eventually be a need for four, or possibly five new elementary school sites in the planning area.
