§ 90.37  DISPOSITION OF LIVESTOCK IN VIOLATION.
   (A)   It shall be the duty of the Humane Society to impound any animal of the species mentioned in § 90.36(A) found running at large within the corporate limits of the city.  When the animal is impounded, the Humane Society shall give written notification of the impoundment to the owner if he is known, or publish notice of the impoundment, giving a description of the animal and the location where impounded.  ('75 Code, § 41.02)
   (B)   The owner of any impounded animal may redeem the animal by showing proof of ownership and by paying the charges incurred in feeding and caring for the animal as well as any charge incurred in advertising the impoundment.  If the owner does not redeem the animal within five days, the Chief of Police shall sell the animal at an auction to the highest bidder, deducting expenses and maintaining the residue of the proceeds of sale for the owner upon proof of ownership.
