§ 73.01  ON-STREET PARKING REGULATIONS; PURPOSE.
In addition to other parking, stopping and standing provisions of Chapter 72 and other provisions of the Municipal Code of the City of Frankfort, this chapter is enacted to regulate the parking of motor vehicles in the downtown area of the city. The purpose of this chapter is to designate specific areas of public streets and lots in the city where the parking of motor vehicles is limited, prohibited, or regulated as to the time permitted for such parking, and to impose penalties for the violation of such regulations. The limitations, prohibitions and motor vehicle parking time limits provided by this chapter are intended to reduce traffic obstructions, to provide for the orderly flow of traffic and to encourage economic development and business success in the downtown area of the city by providing for limited free on-street parking for customers of stores and other businesses in the downtown area of the city in order to achieve a rapid movement of motor vehicles into and out of the downtown area.
