§ 93.021  ORGANIZATION OF THE FRANKFORT FIRE PREVENTION AND INVESTIGATION DIVISIONS.
   (A)   The Inspection Division and Investigation Division of the Frankfort Fire Department shall be under the supervision of the Fire Chief pursuant to the applicable personnel rules of the Fire Department.
   (B)   The Fire Chief shall appoint the head of the Fire Inspection Division and the Investigation Division henceforth called by the title of Fire Inspector and Fire Investigator, holding the rank of Division Captain, with the approval of the Board of Public Works and Safety of the City of Frankfort.
   (C)   The Fire Inspector shall have the following minimum qualifications:
      (1)   Fire years’ service.
      (2)   Substantial knowledge of building construction, principles of fire, fire tactics, and basic electricity.
   (D)   The Inspector and Investigator shall become certified by the Indiana Department of Fire and Building Services, as Fire Inspector I and Fire Investigator sometime within the first year of service after appointment.
   (E)   The appointees shall maintain a minimum of 16 hours of formal training in relation to the area of responsibility every year of service after appointment.
   (F)   The appointees shall be paid a salary set forth per the Chief in the salary ordinance.
   (G)   The Fire Chief may detail such members of the Fire Department as inspectors as shall be deemed necessary from time to time.
