For the purpose of this chapter, the following definitions shall apply unless the context clearly indicates or requires a different meaning.
ELEVATOR. Any mechanical lift operated by any source of power, designed, intended or used to carry or transport individuals or products between floors of any building, which system may be operated by any method including hydraulically, cable or gear or cog mechanism.
PUBLIC ELEVATOR. Any elevator located within the corporate limits of the village, except it shall not apply to elevators located in occupied single-family residences.
