6-1-2: CHIEF OF POLICE; DEPUTY POLICE CHIEF:
   (A)   There is hereby created the position of chief of police in the village. The chief of police shall serve under the direction of the village administrator, supervise all work and employees connected with or assigned to the police department. He shall be responsible for management, administration and direction of personnel, equipment, facilities and operation of the police department. He shall exercise sole control and command and possess complete authority regarding internal organization, structure and discipline. The chief of police shall be a member of the police department. The chief of police shall devote his full time to said position and shall be compensated at a sum to be set from time to time by the president of the board of trustees, and shall enter into a bond in favor of the village in such amount as may be required by the president and board of trustees.
   (B)   There is hereby created the position of deputy chief in the village. The deputy chief shall be appointed by the president, based on the recommendation of the village administrator and chief of police, subject to the approval of the board of trustees. The deputy chief shall perform such duties as shall be assigned by the chief of police and shall serve as the acting chief of police in the absence of the chief of police. (Ord. 16-11, 9-13-2016)
