The fire chief shall keep the records and make such reports concerning the activities of the fire department as shall be necessary for the effective operation and management thereof, and as may be required by statute or ordinance or by direction of the corporate authorities. The fire chief shall devote full time to said position. The fire chief shall be the superior officer in charge of day to day fire department and emergency medical services operations.
