The fire chief and deputy fire chief will be appointed by the village president and confirmed by the board of trustees.
The village president is hereby authorized to appoint part time firefighters as employees, and volunteer firefighters subject to the advice and consent of the board of trustees. Prior to appointment, all part time firefighters shall be subject to a background check which shall include being fingerprinted and their fingerprints shall be checked with the federal bureau of identification, Washington, D.C., and the Illinois state police, bureau of identification, for any possible criminal record. No person shall be appointed as a part time firefighter if he/she has been convicted of a felony or other crime involving moral turpitude. The chief shall supervise all part time firefighters and volunteer firefighters. Following him in rank shall be the deputy fire chief, then part time on call firefighters in an order determined by the fire chief. (Ord. 15-02, 4-14-2015)
