(A) Informative annex H, Administration And Enforcement is hereby adopted as part of the adoption of the NFPA 70 national electrical code, 2014 edition, with the following amendments:
1. Article 80.15 Electrical Board: Delete article entirely.
2. Article 80.23 Notice Of Violations, Penalties: Delete article entirely.
3. Article 80.27 Inspector's Qualifications: Delete article entirely and replace with:
"The electrical inspector for the village of Forest View shall be an electrician licensed within the state of Illinois to the satisfaction of the village of Forest View building commissioner and village administrator".
4. Article 80.29 Liability For Damages: Insert "Village of Forest View".
5. Article 80.35 Effective Date: Insert "30".
(B) Changes related to the use of metallic conduit.
1. The use of nonmetallic sheathed cable (types NM and NMC wire) commonly referred to as "romex wire" shall not be permitted within the village in any use group.
2. Wiring exposed in an unfinished basement shall be installed in rigid, intermediate or thin wall metal conduit.
3. Above ground electrical services shall be galvanized rigid or intermediate metal conduit and installed in accordance with the height and location requirements set forth in the national electrical code.
4. Conduit installed underground shall be a minimum of three- fourths inch (3/4") in size.
5. Type AC wire, commonly referred to as "BX wire" shall only be permitted in new construction or remodeling no greater than six foot (6') lengths in one- and two-family dwellings.
(C) If there are any specific provisions of this code in conflict with the terms of the NFPA 70 national electrical code, 2014 edition, the provisions of this code shall control unless there is a contrary indication therein. (Ord. 16-12, 9-27-2016)
