1-5-5: SALARIES:
   (A)   Generally: The compensation paid the elected and appointed officials of the Village and of the various employees thereof shall be set from time to time by the President and Board of Trustees. (1971 Code)
   (B)   Elected Officials:
      1.   Village President: Any individual elected President of the Board of Trustees of the Village at the April 1989 election, and any individual elected or appointed President thereafter, shall receive a compensation of five thousand dollars ($5,000.00) per year. Any individual elected President of the Board of Trustees at the April 2025 Election, and any individual elected or appointed President thereafter shall receive a compensation of $10,000.
      2.   Board Of Trustees: Any individual elected trustee of the village at the April 1989 election, and any individual elected or appointed trustee thereafter, shall receive a compensation of two thousand five hundred dollars ($2,500.00) per year. Any individual elected Trustee of the Village at the April 2023 Election, and any individual elected or appointed Trustee thereafter shall receive a compensation of $5,000.
   (C)   Reimbursement For Expenses Incurred: Elected officials shall be advanced or reimbursed for the actual and reasonable expenses incurred by individual elected officials in attending state, local, regional or national conferences, seminars and similar events as approved by the board of trustees. “Actual and reasonable expenses” for conferences in excess of seventy five (75) miles radius of the village are those reasonably anticipated for travel, lodging and per diem expenses as established by the board from time to time. Expenditures for travel, lodging, meals and parking shall not be considered reimbursable expenses for conferences within seventy five (75) miles radius of the village. Conference registration shall be an advanced or reimbursable expense regardless of the distance traveled.
      1.   After a meeting for which money was advanced to an elected official, such official shall submit itemized expense vouchers showing the amount of his actual expenses. Receipts shall be attached where possible. Officials seeking reimbursement shall submit similar evidence of expenses actually incurred.
      2.   If the actual and reasonable expenses exceed the amount advanced, the official shall be reimbursed for the amount not advanced. If the actual and reasonable expenses are less than the amount advanced, the official shall refund the excess amount.
      3.   No money for expenses shall be advanced nor shall any official be reimbursed for any expenses incurred on behalf of any person other than the official. (Ord. 87-12, 9-1-1987; amd. Ord. 97-19, 10-28-1997; Ord. 22-16, 7-26-2022)
