§ 151.39  PROJECTING SIGNS.
   (A)   Maximum Protection.  No such sign may project more than 12 inches over the public way unless it be an electric sign.  For the purpose of this chapter ELECTRIC SIGN is a sign illuminated by electric lights.  Both sides of electric projecting signs shall be illuminated to the extent of a minimum of five watts per square foot.
   (B)   No projecting sign shall be more than four feet in height or vertical width at any section, nor shall such sign project more than nine feet beyond the building or marquee to which it is attached; and in no event shall such sign extend to a point less than two feet from any area receiving motor vehicle traffic (parking lots, alleys, drives).  A clear space of not less than ten feet shall be provided below all parts of such signs.  No projecting sign shall be closer than ten inches to the building to which it is attached, except when designed and built as an integral part of a building.
