The Board of Public Works and Safety is hereby authorized by duly adopted resolution to designate and maintain, by appropriate devices, marks, or lines upon the surface of the roadway, crosswalks at intersections where in the opinion of the Board of Public Works and Safety there is particular danger to pedestrians crossing the roadway, and establish safety zones of such kind and character at such other places as the Board of Public Works and Safety may deem necessary for the protection of pedestrians.
