(a) Portable storage units are prohibited from being placed in streets or the front yard of a property, and they must be kept in the driveway of the property at the furthest accessible point from the street. The portable storage unit may not block the site line from the property to the street for the entrance or exit of vehicles to or from the property. The applicant must obtain preapproval of the location by the Building Commission in the following situations:
(1) If the property does not have a driveway.
(2) If the property is a corner lot.
(3) If the location of the unit in the driveway is in the front yard of the property due to a shorter driveway area.
(b) No portable storage unit shall be used to store solid waste, construction debris, demolition debris, recyclable materials, business inventory, commercial goods, or any illegal or hazardous materials. Upon reasonable notice to the applicant, the City of Fairview Park Building Commissioner may inspect the contents of any temporary storage unit at any reasonable time to ensure that it is not being used to store prohibited materials.
