(a) Whoever violates this chapter shall be fined not more than one thousand dollars ($1,000.00) or imprisoned not more than six (6) months. Each day’s continued violation shall constitute a separate offense.
(b) The imposition of any penalty as provided for in this chapter shall not preclude the Director of Law from instituting an appropriate action of proceeding in a court of proper jurisdiction to prevent any unlawful repair or maintenance, to restrain, correct or abate a violation, to prevent occupancy of a rental dwelling unit or to require compliance with the provisions of this chapter or other applicable laws, ordinances, rules, regulations or orders or determinations of the Building Commissioner.
